Tawny Cottage

Tawny Cottage is a cosy little romantic snuggle-hole looking onto the gardens and comes with complimentary continental breakfast. It comprises a downstairs kitchen/diner/sitting room and a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom upstairs. Outside are private seating areas, plus a firebowl to toast those marshmallows in the evening. If you want a little more comfort or want to come out of season, this could be the choice for you. Tawny Cottage is available from February through to the following New Year and prices start at just £56 a night. Sadly, because we have free-roaming hens (Jackie, Sara, Sara, Sara and Sara plus Monty the cockerel) and very free-roaming cats (Bobby, Rosalyn and Sandy), we unfortunately cannot take dogs.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Q. How do I pay for my stay?

Fifty per cent of the cost of your basic stay - excepting any extras you might purchase during your time with us - is payable at the time of booking. The final 50 per cent is due two weeks before the start of your stay. Any extras can be paid for at the end of your stay.

Q. I am travelling alone. Do you offer a discount for single occupancy?

Yes, we do. If you are holidaying on your own, you will receive a 25 per cent discount. Please note, only one discount may be applied to each stay.

Q. What if I need to change or cancel my booking?

If you have booked with us direct, you are free to cancel or change the timing of your stay up to two weeks before arrival. Changes and cancellations after that are subject to an administration charge of £50. Changes made on the day of arrival cannot be accepted. In the exceptional case where we need to cancel your booking, for example due to problems on-site, we will offer you an equivalent stay at another time or return any money you have paid us. If you have made your booking through an agency, you will, of course, be subject to that agency's own cancellation policy.

Q. What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is anytime from 4pm to 7pm (later arrival by arrangement). Check-out is by 10.30am on the day of departure.

Q. When is the best time to see the orchids?

Our heath spotted orchids and lesser butterfly orchids start to bloom in early June and run until mid-July. The broad-leaved helleborines are a little later.

Q. Can I book the whole site for a group?

Yes, you can, and if the whole site is yours, you can also bring a tent for extra guests. Please contact us direct to discuss your needs.

Q. Can I arrive without a car?

Yes you can, very easily. Take the train to Aberystwyth and then bus No. 588 outside the station to Tynreithyn, where you will be dropped around a quarter of a mile from here. And while you are with us, you can catch the same bus to visit the coast or head in the other direction to Tregaron or Lampeter. Click here to see the bus timetable.

Q. How far away are the nearest shops and pubs?

Tregaron is just a couple of miles away, although it is not easy to get to on-foot. There you will find a Spar shop with post office, three butcher's, a baker's, a chemist, a hotel/pub, cafes, a Chinese takeaway, a fish and chip shop and gift shops.

Q. Is there anything else I should know?
