The long awaited project to restore our area of sphagnum bog has begun. Part of Orchid Meadows mimics the wetland of Cors Caron, a renowned National Nature Reserve next door. Apart from sphagnum moss, it contains marsh marigold, ragged robin, marsh cinquefoil and bogbean. But it is being encroached by goat willow that, if left unchecked, will eventually shade out plants and dry the site out. So we have made a start cutting it back, with the help of volunteers Erik (pictured) and Finn. The work will lead to a side benefit: lots of firewood!
