Head out to explore

When you stay at Orchid Meadows, you have 25 acres of countryside set aside for people and nature to explore. Wander round our network of paths through gardens, orchards, wild flower meadows, wetland, newly planted woodland and areas of bracken and gorse that have a sense of wilderness about them. In many places you will have fine views of the Cambrian Mountains and there are welcome seats to surprise you and give an opportunity to relax, dream and observe nature.
You can take the nature trail or use the orchard guide to find out about our heritage apple varieties. And there are special places to find, including Beech Walk, our Greek Garden, Water Lily Pond, our patch of Sphagnum Wetland, Bluebell Corner and Sunrise and Sunset Corners. If the time of year is right, you will want to linger. We are especially proud of our large population of heath spotted orchids, our lesser butterfly orchids and our broad-leaved helleborines. That is why we call ourselves Orchid Meadows. The best time to see the orchids is during Orchid Fortnight, which runs in late June. All stays booked for Orchid Fortnight include a complimentary wild flower guided walk.
We are busy with environmental improvement and rewilding on the nature reserve, which includes nurturing a newly planted wood of locally native species, restoring an area of sphagnum wetland and encouraging the orchids in the meadows. Our orchid count day in June 2025 recorded 1981 flowering heads of heath spotted orchid across the site.
